Webcam verification in Ruwad Connect is off by default and is a workspace setting on the Starter plan and above. When it is on, the tracker asks for a webcam check at random moments inside the working hours the workspace sets, a person can skip one with a reason, and admins review every check on the Verifications page.
The short answer. The rest of the page explains it.What a check is
A webcam check confirms that the person punched in is the person at the computer. At a random moment inside working hours the tracker asks for a photo, the person responds, and the check appears on the Verifications page for an admin to review.
The settings
Everything about checks is set in the web workspace, on Verification settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Verify identity with the webcam | The switch. Off by default. |
| Verifications per day | How many random checks a day, up to the plan's cap. |
| Minimum interval | Hours between two checks, from 1 to 8. |
| Verification timeout | Seconds a person has to respond, from 30 to 120. |
| Working hours | Checks are scheduled only between these times. |
| Allow skipping with a reason | Whether a person can decline a check and say why. |
The desktop reads these from the server. It cannot turn checks on for a workspace that has them off, and it cannot exceed the plan's cap.
Plans
| Plan | Checks a day |

| Starter | 2 |
| Professional | 6 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
Skipping
When skipping is allowed, a person who cannot take a check (a shared room, a call) declines it and gives a reason. The skip and the reason are recorded, and the admin sees them beside the completed checks.
Before you turn it on
The settings page says it plainly, and it is worth repeating here:
- Webcam verification takes photos of people during working hours. Check your local privacy law and get each person's consent before turning it on. The tracker's consent screen is versioned, and everyone is asked again when Ruwad Connect publishes a new version of it; turning webcam checks on does not ask again by itself, so tell the team before you switch it on.
- People must also allow camera access on their own devices, or the check cannot run.
- Photos are stored privately; only authorised admins can see them, and skip reasons are kept for audit.
- Consider asking legal counsel before switching it on for a team in more than one country.
